Since 1976, Family Tree has provided a broad range of services and shelter to families and youth of metro Denver to overcome child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. Each year, Family Tree provides services to more than 31,000 people, including more than 25,000 nights of shelter to families and individuals who might otherwise be homeless. The mission of Family Tree is to help people overcome child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness to become safe, strong and self-reliant through the following programs.
- Women In Crisis
The only emergency shelter for battered women and their children in Jefferson County and the oldest in Colorado. The shelter also provides 24-hour crisis line, counseling services, children's programs, legal assistance, an on-site health clinic, community education, and domestic violence support groups in the mountain areas.
- Last year Women In Crisis provided 8,067 nights of safe shelter and support services to 273 women and 197 children.
- Last year Women In Crisis responded to 4,552 telephone calls for assistance on the 24-hour crisis line.
- Last year the Domestic Violence Services Legal Advocacy Program assisted 1,201 family violence, sexual assault and stalking victims in obtaining temporary and permanent civil protection orders, and provided court accompaniment and free legal information clinics.
- Gemini
Gemini Therapeutic Residential Child Care Facility provides shelter, counseling, education, 24-hour crisis referral line and street outreach for youth ages 11-17 who have been abused, neglected, in family conflict, or may be runaway or homeless.
- Last year Gemini made 2,893 personal contacts with homeless and runaway youth through street outreach in Jefferson, Adams and Boulder counties.
- Last year Gemini Therapeutic Residential Child Care Facility (TRCCF) provided 7,369 nights of safe shelter and therapeutic services to 217 youth including 81 runaway and homeless youth.
- Housing and Family Services
A program which promotes safe and stable families through self-sufficiency and affordable housing for low or no income, homeless families and individuals who are working toward self-reliance.
- Provided housing and intensive home-based case management to 180 families and provided limited case management and housing assistance to 563 homeless families and individuals on our waitlist, serving a total of 2,000 adults and children.
- Provided information and resource information to 4,500 families via our housing hotline.
- Karlis Family Center
A resource center providing programs for families who have experienced separation, divorce, domestic violence or other abuse in the home. Services include supervised parenting-time, safe exchanges of children between their parents, domestic violence support groups, and information and referrals.
- 2,400 supervised visits facilitated between 426 parents and their 291 children. This is an average of 200 visits per month at Karlis Family Center in Lakewood and Sungate Advocacy Center in Denver.
- 2,883 safe exchanges conducted of 101 children between 164 parents, an average of 240 exchanges per month.
- House of Hope
A residential family resource center providing safe shelter and resources for homeless families who are working towards self-sufficiency. The facility--the only one of its kind in Arapahoe County and south metro Denver--opened in January 2001.
- Last year House of Hope provided 9,785 nights of safe shelter and support services to 73 women and 134 children.
- Adams County Projects
These programs seek to assure family stability and early intervention and prevention to families referred by Adams County Department of Social Services.
- The Adams County TANF Stable Families program provided services (including home visits, with case management services and resources) to a total of 405 families.
- Through the Adams County Early Intervention and Prevention program, Family Tree served 187 families with home-based therapeutic counseling and resource services and provided 985 home-based visits.
- Through the Adams County Community Family Resource Team, Family Tree provided 136 youth and their families with in-home services to help at-risk youth and stabilize families.
