As Jefferson County's only domestic violence shelter and the first in Colorado, the mission of Women In Crisis is to assist women and children in developing options as they re-establish their lives free of abuse through shelter, counseling, advocacy and education.

  • Community education on domestic violence
  • Weekly support programs and educational presentations in the mountain areas

July 2006 - June 2007 Accomplishments:

  • Provided 8,067 nights of shelter and supportive services to 273 women and 197 children.
  • Responded to 4,552 calls for assistance via the 24-hour crisis line at Women In Crisis.
  • Responded to 7,721 total calls (4,552 on crisis hotline, 2,814 for legal advocacy and 355 callers were assisted at Mountain Resource Center).
  • Had to deny shelter to 284 families because the shelter was full.
  • Provided counseling at Mountain Resource Center to 48 individuals and assisted 355 callers.
  • Assisted 1,201 victims (219 residential and 982 non-residential) of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking through the Legal Advocacy Program.
