Mr. Shields joined Family Tree in 1998 and was named CEO on July 1, 2007. Mr. Shields provides strategic direction to all Family Tree programs and leadership to the organization’s 140 employees. Mr. Shields has more than eleven years of experience in not-for-profit management and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While with Family Tree, Mr. Shields participated in the growth of the agency from a $3M annual budget to one totaling over $8M today. He formerly served as the Board Secretary and Treasurer of the Colorado Association of Family & Children’s Agencies, Inc. and was a member of the Finance Committee for the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence. He also served on the Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence in Colorado Advisory Council and the Colorado Advisory Committee on Homeless Youth.
