Dr. Carter, a licensed psychologist, has been with Family Tree for eight years, working also with Family Tree Gemini and House of Hope. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialty in child and family services from Oklahoma State University in 1991 after completing a year-long internship at Eastern Virginia Medical School. After ten years of clinical work, she also completed a post-graduate program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. She has provided evaluation and treatment to a diverse population of clients in a variety of settings: adults in patient and outpatient programs; children and teens in outpatient, inpatient, residential and day treatment programs; families of hospitalized adults, children and teens; and families receiving outpatient services. She has conducted mental health evaluations as well as formalized psychological testing with adults, children and teens in all settings and trained numerous pre-doctoral interns in psychological testing and treatment.
