Families are referred by Arapahoe County Department of Human Services for the following programs:
Arapahoe Kinship/Family Stability Program offers information and financial assistance to eligible kinship families in Arapahoe County. When parents are not able or willing to care for their children, many times a relative will assume the responsibility of raising and caring for the children. This task can be overwhelming at times and the family may need extra support. Arapahoe County provides help through this new Family Tree program. Families must be receiving Child-Only TANF in Arapahoe County to be eligible. Case managers visit with families in their homes to make a plan to provide resources and financial assistance to increase family stability. Assistance is available for clothing, beds, custody fees and extracurricular activities.

Arapahoe County TIES (Together Individuals Embrace Success) Program works to keep children in the homes of relative caretakers or other adults by providing assistance as needed to those who are interested and willing to participate. This program seeks to assure stability and permanency of children in kinship care or in the homes of non-relatives and to divert them from foster care. This program serves children, ages 0-18 years of age, referred by the Arapahoe County Children Youth and Families Division because of their placement with relative(s) or other adult caregiver(s).

Arapahoe County FIRST (Family Information, Referral and Support Team) Program is intended to serve those Arapahoe County families who have come to the attention of Child Welfare via a report of suspected child abuse or neglect, but did not present with risk factors significant enough to warrant investigation. The purpose of the program is to help those families diminish their level of risk for child abuse and negelct and avoid further contact with Child Welfare by providing them with information regarding county benefits for which they may be eligible, as well as with referrals to relevant community resources. Sometimes families need the support of community resources to live and/or parent in ways they agree are safer for their children. The service is voluntary and free to the families.
