Family Tree currently has the following intern opportunities for which we need compassionate, friendly and energetic interns. After reviewing the positions below, please complete our Volunteer Application.
- Administration Intern:
This position will provide general administrative assistance for the Family Tree Administrative Offices. Mostly answering phones, making copies, a little filing, and general admin assistant duties. In addition, this position will learn specific volunteer management, finance department, and housing program duties.
- PR & Development Intern:
Assist Public Relations and Development departments in researching social media marketing for not-for-profit organizations, and in designing and implementing appropriate such marketing methods and tools for Family Tree.
- Human Services/Social Work Internship:
Family Tree Housing and Family Services (HFS) offers an internship to teach and enhance interviewing skills, crisis intervention techniques, and knowledge of local resources. As an intern you will become part of our team, helping to make decisions that impact the lives of homeless individuals and families. You will learn through hands on experience the current climate of homeless services in the Denver metro area and those in need of these services. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to learn case management and issues affecting the homeless.
- Legal/Supervised Parenting Time Intern:
Create a welcoming environment while serving as a facilitator during supervised parenting time at Karlis Family Center. Volunteers will coordinate their monthly schedule with the program supervisor. The center requires a minumum of three shifts per month over a six month period.
- Supervised Visitation Monitor/Intern:
Serve as a facilitator during supervised parenting time at Karlis Family Center. Observe parents and children during their court-ordered visits, and take notes on the interaction, to provide to courts for review. Intervene in visit only when inappropriate behavior occurs.
- Legal Advocate Volunteer/Intern:
The legal advocate volunteer assists victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking who come to the Jefferson County Courthouse to obtain a protection order. At twice-monthly protection order clinics, the legal advocate intern/volunteer will help vicitms with the necessary paperwork then provide support throughout the court process. Interns/volunteers may also provide court accompaniment to the permanent protection order hearings, which may include a mediation process. They also handle phone calls, giving information and referrals to callers, as well as providing crisis intervention when necessary.
- Diversity/Inclusiveness Intern:
Intern will actively work with the Kaleidoscope Committee to make Family Tree a more inclusive agency. The Kaleidoscope Committee purpose statement is to increase the respect, understanding, awareness, celebration and sensitivity of diversity across Family Tree as a function of the broader goal to develop inclusiveness in our staff, our clients and our community. The Kaleidoscope Committee consists of one member from each of Family Tree's 18 programs, as well as our CEO and many of our Managing Directors. Specifically, the intern will be responsible to gather and compile resources for non-English speakers, as well as outreach to area non-profits and businesses to research best inclusiveness practices.
