HERE'S WHY THE TREEHOUSE CLUB IS SO IMPORTANT!

Dear Friend,

“Take this gun and shoot me.” That’s what Amber’s husband demanded she do. For this young woman who grew up in a violent home, later endured domestic violence in her own home and was once “taught a lesson” by being dropped off in the mountains and told to walk home -- it was time for a change.

Fortunately for Amber she knew about Family Tree Women In Crisis. Jeanine’s situation brought her to Family Tree Gemini. Affected by health and relationship problems, she and her family endured unstable living arrangements and ongoing financial problems. For Jeanine, moving past the hardships of her past and looking to a more promising future would be a challenge.

It takes ambition and determination to turn one’s life around. Still, we see those positive choices being made nearly everyday by women and children, many of whom are homeless; some, the victims of domestic violence and others, perhaps the most tragic, children who are the victims of abuse or neglect.

Since 1976, Family Tree has been helping families move toward self-sufficiency, and we’ve learned that lasting change doesn’t come about through a quick fix. Overcoming a lifetime filled with seemingly insurmountable barriers to safety and security takes time.

That’s why we have the Treehouse Club. The Treehouse Club is made up of caring, committed supporters who agree to send monthly donations to help insure that the vital programs and services needed by deserving individuals like Amber and Jeanine are always available.

What will membership in the Treehouse Club cost you? That’s up to you. We recommend a minimum monthly contribution of $10; that’s only 32 cents per day. Want to do more? A contribution of $25 each month still costs you only about 82 cents per day. That’s a small price to pay for life-changing services like those received by Amber and Jeanine. Your generous gift of $50 each month would truly make a difference for so many and, just think, that’s only $1.65 per day ... about the price of a cup of coffee.

What a difference Family Tree can make! At Family Tree Women In Crisis, Amber and her daughter felt safe again. Very soon they were ready for a place of their own and through the Family Tree Housing and Family Services program, we helped them to secure transitional housing. During that time Amber began work on her G.E.D. and was able to gain employment. Today, Amber enjoys permanent housing and is confident about her prospects for the future.

Having completed the Family Tree Gemini program, Jeanine has successfully lived in a foster care home since 2003. Jeanine will graduate high school this year and is quite involved in her school, extracurricular activities and church. Today, Jeanine works a part-time job to earn money for college. Wouldn’t you agree that Jeanine has a bright future?
