POSITION:   Marketing and Events Coordinator

SUPERVISOR:  Chief Development Officer          

POSITION STATUS: Full-time, exempt

SALARY RANGE:   Grade 6

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the execution of external and internal marketing and communications for Family Tree and its programs and oversees agency events. This position will assist in guiding the development of the agency’s marketing and communications plan and oversee tasks such as: editing and maintaining the website; updating and overseeing social media, e-communications, and online presence and leading media relations. This position oversees print and digital agency campaigns and designs, writes, and coordinates the production and publication of all agency marketing materials. This position assists with development of internal communications plans, as well as the execution of these plans along with general fundraising activities as a member of the Gifts and Community Support (GCS) team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or professional experience equivalent preferred. Excellent writing, editing, proof-reading and graphic design skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong computer skills including desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite, Photo Shop, Illustrator, and InDesign). Skilled in graphic design. Have interest or expertise in media relations and public speaking. Strong team player; detail oriented; strong project management skills. Flexible to work independently as well as able to work closely with other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support the mission of Family Tree.
  2. Participate as an active member of the Gifts and Community Support (GCS) Team.
  3. Design, implement and evaluate a long term, measurable strategic plan for community and media relations for Family Tree with specific and timely annual goals and objectives and tactics for achieving these.
  4. Develop story ideas and write press releases and speeches.
  5. Maintain updated agency media crisis plan and coordinate media training as needed for team members approved to engage with the media.
  6. Serve as gatekeeper to media inquires.
  7. Develop and maintain positive relationships with members of the media.
  8. Make recommendations to elevate the profile of Family Tree in the community and achieve heightened awareness of our programs and services in metro Denver.
  9. Conduct regular and ongoing evaluation of marketing and communication efforts and make recommendations for change if and when appropriate.
  10. In coordination with the Chief Development Officer, prepare and monitor the Marketing & Communications department budget.
  11. Serve on the Family Tree Communications Council.
  12. Write, produce and print newsletters, ad campaign and annual report.
  13. Strategically leads the planning, development, production and evaluation of giving and educational campaigns, including but not limited to: direct mail campaigns, digital giving campaigns, monthly-donor campaigns, sponsorship campaigns and educational campaigns.
  14. Oversee all social media communications.
  15. Oversee translation of all print materials into other languages as needed.
  16. Edit and maintain Agency’s web site to ensure timely and relevant content.
  17. Provide general marketing support as requested by the programs; ensure excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.
  18. Provide leadership and manage Agency special events to meet revenue goals and provide public relations and marketing support. Oversee third-party fundraising events.
  19. Represent Family Tree in the community as appropriate, and support all other community representation and presentations.
  20. Conduct regular and ongoing evaluation of marketing and communication efforts and make recommendations for change if and when appropriate.
  21. Manage agency web site and 211-web site and ensure content is timely and relevant.
  22. Negotiate annual web support contract and insure contractual arrangements are fulfilled and that necessary licenses and permits are maintained.
  23. Assist CEO with enhancing agency internal communications.
     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and some weekends. Requires the ability to travel to and from meetings in the metro area. Ability to communicate with staff and community representatives. Must be able to use a phone and computer with or without accommodation. Requires the ability to perform routine office duties such as typing, filing, writing etc.
