POSITION: Shelter Director

DIVISION/PROGRAM: Roots of Courage

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field or equivalent combination of training and work experience. Bilingual preferred. Must have a minimum of two years experience in working with survivors of domestic violence in a shelter environment, and two year supervisory experience.  Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, and organizational skills necessary. 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Oversees the operations of the 24-hour Roots of Courage (ROC) domestic violence shelter, to include the 24-hour crisis line, adult  and children’s programs, house management, food program, volunteer program, community relations, and acts as liaison between Safe Clinic and shelter. Provides direct supervision of regular staff and indirect supervision for relief staff and volunteers.   Works with Division Director, Domestic Violence Services Programs, and other Family Tree programs to coordinate interrelated , culturally sensitive  services  focused on safety and empowerment for survivors of domestic violence.
