POSITION: Legal Advocate

DIVISION/PROGRAM: Domestic Violence Services

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Service, or related field or equivalent training and work experience. Knowledge of domestic violence issues and one year experience working with survivors of domestic violence and the criminal justice system preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Legal Advocate assists survivors of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault with accompaniment to court for civil hearings; staffs protection order clinics at Jefferson County Court House; provides liaison with victim advocacy agencies, the criminal justice system, and lawyers; and provides advocacy for shelter residents and non-residential clients using a trauma informed, multi-generational approach.  Must demonstrate a commitment to serving and working with all populations and people.

SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday, Non-exempt
