While at Family Tree House of Hope, Mary worked hard to find and start a full-time job. She was able to get the support she needed to find stable housing for her and her granddaughters and furnish it and purchase clothes with gift certificates from Family Tree Treasure Trunk.
Family Tree House of Hope Case Manager, Kim, notes, “Mary actively sought to improve the well-being of not just her life and her granddaughters’ lives, but also the well-being of everyone around her. Mary is a compassionate and terrific role model. She has a refreshing perspective and encourages others to practice self-care, stay motivated, and maintain a positive outlook on life.”
Mary believes Family Tree saved her life as well as the lives of her granddaughters, but serves as an example of empowerment to all those around her and to this day. Mary wants other people to understand that giving up is not an option, and the power of believing in yourself and your success.
Mary shares;
The girls loved rocks - they still collect them. We used to take walks and if they saw one that was special, if it glimmered or was a certain color and it was smooth, we would pick it up and write things on it. I’m a firm believer that if you stay positive you can manifest the things you want out of life. Somewhere I heard if you write down what it is that you desire and put it on something permanent, you can manifest that.
“So we have all these rocks! I was looking at them the other day, and it was from during the time we were at Family Tree House of Hope and I wrote, ‘Our New Home’ on it. And that rock is sitting in the foyer of my home right now. It means a lot to us. The Family Tree House of Hope was a lifesaver for the girls and me.
